As a director, I don’t want to create a buzz or a fuss. I’ve always kept a low profile and went on my merry way. Being a woman director, people often ask me questions about gender equality in cinema and if I wished to be known as a ‘female director’. I have never wanted to be considered a ‘female director’. What does it even mean? I don’t want to be put in a box and I hate limiting categories. I’ve been able to direct twelve feature films and still do it my way. – Diane Kurys (1948- )
