The Diane Arbus (1923-1971) photograph ‘Identical Twins, Roselle, N.J. 1967’ is believed to have inspired the recurring image of two murdered little girls in Stanley Kubrick’s film THE SHINING. It should be noted that the girls in Arbus’s photo were, in fact, alive.
