In a speech given on 30 October 1984, Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandi (1917-1984) stated ‘I have lived a long life and I am proud that I spend the whole of my life in the service of my people… I shall continue to serve until my last breath and when I die, I can say, that every drop of my blood will invigorate India and strengthen it.’ The very next day, Gandhi was assassinated by two of her bodyguards while walking in her garden. They shot her a total of 30 times, handily winning the title of Worst. Bodyguards. Ever.
